Quality Time: A Flip the Frog Cartoon by Eric W. Schwartz
Well, Well, Well, here's my first animation of 1993, and its a huge
mother. It Runs for over six minutes(68000 processor)Here's some stats:
Minimum System: Any Amiga with 5 megs memory and two floppy drives.
You do not actually need two floppies, but trying to load the animation
by floppy will give you a disk swapping heart attack if you only have one
drive.
Reccommended System: Any Amiga with over 5 megs and a Hard Drive.
There are two versions of this animation, Quality_Time.NTSC and
Quality_Time.PAL . Each version has its timing tailored to its
corresponding video standard. This animation is very timing dependent with
regard to sound synching, and the timing is tailored to the delays
associated with the 68000 processor. Running this animation on a higher
spec processor and/or an AGA chipset machine will probably make the
animation run faster than it was intended to in places.
Running the animation from Floppies:
This animation comes as a four disk set, FlipDisk1: thru FlipDisk4:. To
run the animation, Double-Click on either Quality_Time.NTSC or
Quality_Time.PAL icons from FlipDisk1: The animation should load, asking
for disks 2, 3, and 4 as you go. I recommend keeping Flipdisk1: where it
is, as this will result in the least disk swapping.
If you have no more than five megs memory, you may want to try booting
from Flipdisk1: (Flipdisk1: should be bootable, if not, install it.) The
animation should load upon booting, asking you to swap disks as mentioned
above. Booting runs the NTSC version by default. if you want to run the
PAL version upon booting instead, delve into the S: directory of
FlipDisk1: and rename Startup-Sequence.PAL to "Startup-Sequence" ,
replacing or renaming the existing 'Startup-Sequence'. The Disk should
boot and run the PAL version afterwards.
Installing on a Hard Drive:
First of all, You'll need about 3 megs of free Hard Drive space.
* Installing the easy way:
You will need to have (or have access to) Gold Disk's MovieSetter
animation software. Load the animation into the program (If you only have
5 megs, you should only run the SceneEditor module and turn off the
workbench before doing this.) Once the animation is loaded, resave it in
'Embed' mode to whatever directory on your hard drive you wish. This will
create a 2.5 meg file containing the entire animation. You can then copy
the icon files (Replacing the existing movie icon) and the MoviePlayer
program from Flipdisk1: to the animation's directory. The animation should
then be runnable by double-clicking on its Icon (You may have to clear as
much memory as you can if you have only 5 megs.)
* Installing the hard way: (If you can't find a copy of Moviesetter)
Create a directory for the animation, and three subdirectories inside
that. these three subdirectories should be named "Backs", "sets", and
"Sounds". copy all files from flipDisk1: thru Flipdisk4: into the
animation directories, making sure files from a disk's root directory go
into the main animation directory, and files from the floppies'
subdirectories go into the animation subdirectories of the same
name("backs","sets". or "sounds").
Next, create ASSIGN commands with the CLI to direct the animation player
to look to the new animation location. These can be part of a script that
you execute before running the animation, or part of your machine's
startup-sequence. these ASSIGN commands should be:
ASSIGN FlipDisk1: {Animation directory on hard drive}
ASSIGN FlipDisk2: {Animation directory on hard drive}
ASSIGN FlipDisk3: {Animation directory on hard drive}
ASSIGN FlipDisk4: {Animation directory on hard drive}
The animation can then be run by double clicking on its icon from the hard
drive, or by executing these commands from the CLI:
CD {animation's path and directory}
Movieplayer Quality_Time.PAL
or
MoviePlayer Quality_Time.NTSC (Depending on your video standard)

NOT! to be considered Public Domain. All animations are copyrighted but

Characters that I have created, such as Amy the Squirrel, Clarisse
Cat, and Flip the Frog are Copyright © 1992 Eric W. Schwartz as well. Do
not use these characters in your own works unless you are willing to
accept the consequences. I might not sue you for creating a work using my
characters, but then again I might, especially if I consider the work
particularly vulgar (Back from the Beach) or insulting to myself or my
characters. At the very least, if your mind is made up to use my
characters despite my pleas, for GOD'S SAKE TRY DRAWING THEM YOURSELF!
I'm more impressed by people that show skill rather than cut-and-paste
abilities.
This animation can be considered as shareware. Send five bucks or whatever
you feel its worth to help me through college.
I hope you enjoy this animation as much as I went through HELL making it.
As Always,
Eric W. Schwartz
